CALENDAR OF EVENTS
Our Members
Metro Denver Shelter Alliance members are committed to:
-
Using terminology that is clear, positive in tone, and builds understanding between shelters and with the public. Accordingly, we will refer to animal shelters as either "open admission" or "limited admission" shelters.
-
Collecting data using uniform definitions and guidelines that allow aggregate data to be reported in meaningful and accurate ways. Data collection and reporting requirements are the same for open admission and limited admission shelters.
-
Emphasizing the live release rate when reporting statistics to the public. An individual agency may elect to report its placement rate of healthy animals but only when reported concurrently with the live release rate.
-
Segregating data into two categories (i.e. open admission and limited admission shelters) to help illustrate the respective difference in (a) live release rates, (b) types of animals received, and (c) the volume of animals handled.
-
Identifying the number of canines and felines that were requalified from the healthy or treatable categories into the unhealthy/untreatable category. This data will be reported as a subset in the adoption rate calculation.
